Matt successfully defends the Omega European Masters
14 September 2018

Matt won his fifth European Tour title by successfully defending the Omega European Masters in Crans-Sur-Sierre last week. With two holes to play of his final round, Matt was one shot behind leader Lucas Bjerregaard, but a birdie on the final hole meant Matt would reach seventeen under par and get himself into a play-off.

Matt then birdied the first play off hole to take the title and be the first player since Seve Ballasteros (40 years ago) to successfuly defend the Omega European Masters crown.

Matt added: "It's such an honour to emulate what the great Seve achieved - any time you get mentioned in the same sentence as Seve it is nice! It was a really tough day out there and I'm so happy to grind out the win."

Matt will next be in action at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship followed by the Sky Sports British Masters at Walton Heath.
